Home Missions USA Colorado - Dean Hendrix
Dean Hendrix - Bio

Dean and Brenda Hendrix

HendrixDean and Brenda serve as church planters with a special ColoradoFlag emphasis on Spanish people in Thornton, Colorado a large suburb of Denver. Although their ministry is centered in Thornton, it reaches Spanish speaking people all over the Denver metropolitan area. In January of 1987, Dean and his wife Brenda traveled to Ponce, Puerto Rico where they served in a church planting ministry until August of 2003. Two churches were planted out of their main church. Both of these churches have Puerto Rican pastors today. Then the Hendrix family moved to Denver, Colorado to begin a church planting ministry among the Spanish speaking people in this area. They worked for 3 years through Tri-City Baptist Church in Westminster and Faith Baptist Church in Longmont. Presently, the ministry continues at Tri-City Baptist Church where the Iglesia Bautista de Tri-City has 2 services each Sunday, a Wednesday evening service and a Bible study on Friday nights.

Dear Friends:

Thank you again for your faithful prayers and support. We appreciate your part in the ministry to reach Spanish speaking people with the Gospel. The Lord continues to bless our church. During the last month Alegria, Rubio and Ariana have professed faith in Christ. We have increased our door to door visitation efforts during the summer. Many of our people are encouraged to see how God is blessing their efforts.

During July, Dr. and Mrs. Mark Batory visited us for a few days. Dr. Batory is the director of our Mission Board. We enjoyed:the fellowship a lot. The Lord also opened the door for the Batorys to make some timely visits with us in which their personal testimony made a significant impact. We thank God for the Batorys and pray that God will continue to bless and use them in every area of their lives.

We are excited about our plan to begin a Bible Institute in 2011. The Lord is already providing teachers. Pray as we work on the details of the organization. We want to make use of the experience of others to get the Institute off to a good start. Several church members are enthusiastic about the opportunity to study the Scriptures in a more rigorous way. We hope to train our church members to be prepared workmen and to equip men that are called to ministry.

Our girls have been busy this summer. Lynda graduated from BJU in May with a degree in cinema and is working 45 to 50 hours each week on the new Christian film that the University is producing. Pray that God will bless the project with good weather and the leaders with wisdom as they direct the shooting. Mamie has been working hard as a summer intern with Cross Impact Ministry. Cross Impact is a local church centered ministry that works to reach college students on secular campuses. Heidi went on the Youth mission trip of Tri-City Baptist Church to Boston. There they helped the Colin Landry family and the church that ,Colin planted a few years ago: The Landrys went to Bosfon from Tri-City Baptist Church.

We are encouraged to see Bernardo, one of Maria Elena's brothers, shake off a state of discouragement and depression. This began last year when their father was murdered in Mexico. The body was not found until many months after the crime. Bernardo has not been a believer long. Pray that God will continue to work in Bernardo's life and in the lives of each member of his family.

Your servants in Christ,

Dean and Brenda

Planting Spanish language churches in Colorado

Dear Friends:

Thank you for your prayers and support. We appreciate your faithfulness and generosity.
We hope that you can come see the work that is being done with Spanish speaking folks
in Colorado. The Lord has been blessing during the past few months. Several new people
are attending regularly and some have been saved. There is a spirit of unity in the church
and the desire to reach out with the Gospel is growing.

Jose and Marisol took the initiative (after consulting with Dean) to begin a Friday
evening Bible study. This study is held in the homes of church members but sometimes a
person outside the church also hosts the study. Dean does the teaching but Jose and
Marisol make all the arrangements. Recently, over thirty people attended the study in the
home of Maria Elena and Rogelio.

The Lord sometimes works in mysterious ways. Dean received a call from a Hispanic
believer in Atlanta. This gentleman asked Dean to visit his brother, Osvaldo, who lives in
the Denver area. Not only has Osvaldo been coming to church but his cousin, Esmer,
started attending as well. We trust that these two young men will soon receive Christ. A
family in our church helped Osvaldo get a regular job. He is happy about that. Our hope
is that Osvaldo' s uncle and his family will also come to church and come to faith in
Christ.

Ricardo, brother of Marisol, passed away last week. Dean visited Ricardo several times
while he was in jail. Ricardo always listened attentively to the Gospel but was never
ready to put his faith in Christ. Thankfully, God was very merciful to Ricardo. Marisol
was able to witness to him again when he first entered the hospital and he finally realized
his great need of a Savior. He trusted Christ and immediately asked another sister to
forgive him for some wrong he had done to her. The family had two priests corne during
Ricardo's last hours. He had been in a coma for a few days but the priests went through
their rites. Dean told Marisol not to worry because the priests could not do anything to
harm Ricardo. He was safe in the arms ofthe Lord.

Your servants in Christ,

Dean and Brenda
