A "bottle" in Bible days was not made of glass, but animal skin. Exposed to the tenacious and infiltrating power of smoke, the "wineskin" would become useless; penetrated by bad odor. No doubt, it would have a powerful effect upon the drink the wineskin contained. Who would want to drink water or wine that had the smell of smoke? The Psalmist sees himself like a wineskin in the world; the world put out its penetrating polluting influence and contaminated him. How could the wine of salvation or the water of the Word be poured out of him? The odor of the world would come forth from the Word he was trying to deliver. That is why he needed the power of God's Word in his personal life. The contaminating power of the world can only be overcome by the cleansing power of the WORD OF GOD. This world that casts its temptations upon us, its continual mocking at sin, and its rejection of our Savior and His Word, is vexing and oppressing to our soul. That is why we must delight in and love the Word of God, meditate upon its precepts and memorize it regularly!

On Wednesday, March 17th, we will have the FIRST Heritage Bible Club at the Fulton Housing Project. Debbie, along with Helen Stevens, Becky Heiser, and Tiggy Jimenez have been working hard in preparing for this outreach. Pray that God will bring in precious children to hear the Gospel message and that families will be reached by the grace of Jesus Christ!
