Tori Barrett - Bio PDF Print E-mail

ToriBarrett1Tori is a veteran missionary serving in Kitwe, Zambia which is located in ZambiaFlagCentral Africa. Tori is active in serving at Faith Baptist Church with her main responsibility being the establishment of a Christian School for the children of Kitwe. She administrates, teaches and trains teachers for this school. During this term [2008 - 2011] Tori will be moving to their orphanage located outside of Kitwe and helping with the education needs of the 50+ children living there. With Aids taking such a heavy toll on the people in this area the proclamation of the gospel as well as the training of children is critical. Continue to pray for Tori as she works with the children of Zambia. Pray specifically for her health since she suffers with the many of the illnesses prevalent in the area.

Update 02/05/2010 PDF Print E-mail

Faith Baptist Church School continues to be a place of mini miracles! The Lord has added kindergarten to our school and filled the class with 14 beautiful children. The grade 7 is the largest class with 19 students. Enrollment has increased by 38 students this year. A marvelous staff is in place and six students have accepted Christ this year. My cup runneth over!

The CBU (Copperbelt University Bible study is off to a consistent start but the attendance is low. The student leaders are considering changing the time of the study. Saturday morning seems to find many students going to town to buy food (all students cook for themselves in their rooms on two burner stoves), washing laundry (by hand) or going home for the weekend. Otherwise, I am encouraged that some freshmen have joined the study.

Faith Children's Village continues to be a source of great joy. Although I seldom visit the orphanage, I have contact with 38 of the 52 children every week at school. I've had some heart-to-heart conversations with the older children in my office. I have been keenly concerned about bitterness and anger being harbored in their hearts. Some one on one time has revealed deep hurts. That has helped both the teachers and me know how to help. We have seen some small victories, some consistent effort to overcome and some battles still not won. Pray!
