Summer Is Passing! Furlough Continues. Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and support. We arrived safely back in the US to begin our furlough the end of May. June - Got over jetlag, rested, and got many needed supplies, including a vehicle. July - Reported to a couple of supporting churches and spent time with Kim’s family. August - Reported to another church, spent some time as a family, then put Rachel in school for her freshman year of college at BJU and Jonathan for his senior year. Report From Japan Bekah reports that all is well with the ministries in Japan. Though they have faced several challenges, the Lord continues to give grace. They had a good summer with reports from missionaries whom CBC supports and a couple of camps in addition to the regular church services. Frank and Judy Musk, our replacement during the rest of our furlough, will be arriving in Japan September 22. Please pray that they will be a blessing and help to the people at Calvary Baptist Church (Japanese) and Nagoya International Baptist Church (English). Prayer Updates Ongoing Needs - God “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20 As I visited a couple of our supporting churches, I realized that some prayer requests needed to be updated. Some churches were praying for things that had already been answered, so I would like to update you on the requests we have given over the past year. ANSWERED PRAYERS: Mark and Rhanda Smith have decided to serve the Lord stateside and are no longer considering Japan as a field of service. Bekah joined us in Nagoya in February 2010. The Musks have consented to replace us during our furlough and will be arriving in Nagoya the end of September. Rachel was able to get a flute for college. Yasuyo (a young lady at CBC for five years) got a job teaching in a Christian high school in the Tokyo area. The storm damage was repaired, and our house in the US sold (though we took quite loss, we are trusting the Lord to supply). Mike McGowan, who will be working with us, was able to take a break from his deputation activities and replace the Zemkes in Hokkaido during their furlough. The Lord has provided us a nice minivan for use during on furlough. Though we have been in several different places, the Lord has graciously provided for our furlough housing. The Lord has provided for Jonathan to start his senior year and for Rachel to start her freshman year. We know that what God has called them to, He is able to see them through. With the yen at near record lows again, and increasing prices and increasing needs, our mission board informed us that we need about $1500 in additional monthly support. Please earnestly pray that the Lord will allow us to raise that amount by the end of our furlough. Continued safety as we travel thousands of miles to report to our supporting churches. Mike McGowan’s support to continue to increase so that he can come to work in Nagoya with us very soon (if not immediately) after he has finished furlough replacement for the Zemkes (June 2011).
