Home Academy Classes Mrs. Kerns
Mrs. Kerns
Government PDF Print E-mail

The purpose of this class is to educate the students (11th & 12th) on the Constitution and basic workings of the government.  We will spend 5 weeks going through the Constitution word by word so that when we are finished, the students know exactly what it says and can list all the Articles and Amendments with their topics.

This class is enhanced by a trip to Richmond for "Government Day" where they meet with legislators and tour the government building.

Excursions of Literature PDF Print E-mail

In this Junioir High literature class, we will study different literay works and focus on character traits exemplified in the stories.  The larger work studied in this text is Ben Hur.  This provides a wonderful look at the cruxification of Christ from a young man's view of the events.

The students develop a love of literary pieces through these students which hopefully will instill a love of literature.

Physical Science and Chemistry PDF Print E-mail

These science classes are viewed on DVD from Bob Jones University.  The students are taught by extremely qualified teacher who specialize in these sciences.  A facilitator monitors the class, takes the grades, issues tests and quizzes, and does the labs in the classroom with the students.

This provides an exceptional science background for each student.

Meet Mrs. Kerns PDF Print E-mail

I have been teaching at KCA for the past 18 years, this being my 19th year of teaching. I am actually a graduate of KCA, class of 1980. From there I left for Trinity Baptist College, where I majored in Secondary Education. I married my high school sweatheart, Larry Kerns and started a family. We have two children by birth, Heidi and Matthew. We also have two additional children from Korea that God has allowed us to help their parents (Pastor and Mrs. Lee) raise, Urim and Thummim.  We have three grandchild, Meghan who is 2, and we have recently added twin grandsons, Colin and Connor, to the family on August 24th of this year.

The Lord saved me at the age of 10 years old and called me to teach at the age of 15. We married in college and I was at home with my children until they went to school . I began to teach the same year that my youngest started school.  I currently teach 7th - 12th grades and serve as the Administrative Assistant for the Administrator. This year I am teaching several history and literature classes and facilitating Physical Science and Chemistry.

It is my privilege to spend each day teaching young people not only academics, but our worldview and where God is in their lives today. God has blessed our school with teachers, administration, parents, and a student body that work together to serve God in this ministry by preparing our young people to go out into the world as a light shining in darkness.
